MOKAN PRINCESS

Mattie Moore

Howdy!  My name is Mattie Moore, and I’m your 2006 MKYRA Princess.  I am 11 years old and in the 5th grade at Harrisonville Christian School, in Harrisonville, MO.  This is my second year competing as a Junior cowgirl.  My parents are Steve and Lisa Moore, and I have an older brother, Charlie, and a little sister, Josie.  My dad is a builder with his own company, Moore Built, and my mom is a high school business teacher at the Cass Career Center in Harrisonville, MO.

Our 200 acre ranch is located south of Harrisonville.  We have a small herd of brood mares, and a stud horse named Coco that we raised.  Charlie and I rodeo on three of the horses that we raised and trained.  We also raise longhorns, have several roping calves, a goat, two dogs, a cat, and of course my faithful old Appaloosa, Freckles.  I’ve been rodeoing for several years now, and am starting my 8th year as a proud Mo-Kan member.  During my years as a Pee Wee cowgirl, I earned buckles in Barrel Racing and Pole Bending, and was the 2004 MKYRA Pee Wee All-Around-Cowgirl.  As a Junior, I now compete in barrels, poles, breakaway roping, and goat tying.   In addition to rodeo, I take dance, love to read, play soccer, sew & crochet, swim, draw, and love to go trout fishing.  At school I’m in the Chess Club, and compete in Art contests.  I attend the Harrisonville Mennonite Church, and my faith in God and personal relationship with Jesus Christ are an important part of my life.

Being the MKYRA Princess is truly an honor and a personal accomplishment for me.  I love riding into the arena carrying the American flag – I’m sure you can tell by the big smile on my face!  As your Princess I hope to promote good sportsmanship and be a good example to other young people.  My rodeo friends mean a lot to me, and I look forward to each rodeo so I can see them.  My rodeo advice would be to rodeo hard, always remember to have fun, and exit the arena with a smile no matter what!
